Poster Presentation at International Conference on “Intergenerational Issues in Health Care Ethics: Responsibility, Solidarity, and Sustainability”
Eva Katharina Boser and Niklas Ellerich-Groppe presented initial findings from the FuturISE research group at the conference “Intergenerational Issues in Health Care Ethics: Responsibility, Solidarity, and Sustainability,” held at the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg (Institute for Advanced Studies) in Delmenhorst, Germany. They gave a poster presentation with the title “Intergenerational Solidarity beyond the COVID-19 Pandemic: An International Comparative Perspective on a Central Normative Reference Point in Future Crises in Europe.”
The presentation provided an overview of various conceptualizations of generations and solidarity in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Using three case studies from England, Sweden, and Germany, the authors explored links between the pandemic and other crises, such as the climate crisis, the education crisis, and the care crisis. They drew initial conclusions regarding the normative reference points of intergenerational solidarity for future crises in Europe.
